Beyond being an internationally recognized artist and speaker, Byron is a tenured professor and serves as an executive at a highly-ranked liberal arts college in Pennsylvania. As a college professor and higher education leader, his work has focussed mainly on developing and implementing innovative pedagogical instruments and economic development strategies. Byron has in-depth experience navigating shared governance processes and a thorough knowledge of the inner workings of higher education institutions.

Byron founded Techne Education Group with the intention of helping other institutions better relate to their hometowns by leaning into their strengths and traditions while also leveraging emerging technologies and pedagogical instruments.
